*Visits project site, donates gift items to motorists
โฆset for commissioning as part of 100 days in office projects

Chairman of Ikono Local Government Area, Engr. Oto-Obong Okon Essien, is taking significant steps to improve the infrastructure and rural development of the area as part of her campaign promises within a hundred days in office.
The rural road grading projects and construction of a motor park at the entrance of Obo Oduk market are two major projects that will enhance the ease of movement and connectivity between villages in Ikono.
Addressing Ikono people on Monday during projects inauguration, the Council Chairman, Engr. Oto-Obong Essien noted that the project aligned with the A-R-I-S-E Agenda of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, HE Pastor (Dr.) Umo Eno, and is in demonstration of her commitment to rural development and improved infrastructural amenities.
Exchanging pleasantries to motorists at the Obo Oduk market while donating gift items to them in compliment of the season, Engr. Essien affirmed that the motor park project is expected to reduce criminal activities by illegal drivers in unauthorized locations and beautify the market entrance, making it easier for farmers and traders to transport their goods and services.
She Solicited maximum cooperation from the leadership of the market, stall owners, transport union, stakeholders, and members of the public who will majorly benefit from these projects – which will improve the overall quality of life in Ikono as the “Cradle of the Ibibio Nation” rich in arable land.
According to her, “these projects will also help to promote the area’s unique identity and economic development, as a selfless leader I have chosen away from my community in Ikono Middle geo-political zone which is where the local government Secretariat is located and there after take projects down to all communities in Ikono, there is no community in the area that will not benefit from this administration.
“I will commission more life touching projects in Ikono on 14 January, 2025 to mark my 100 days as I promised the people who voted me into office to serve them, I am a servant leader of my people”.
