Former Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has addressed the recent social media controversy involving Victor Osimhen.
Following an online outburst where Osimhen criticized Finidi, accusing him of alleging that Osimhen had withdrawn from national team matches, Finidi has stated that no apology has been received from the star player.
Osimhen’s social media rant drew widespread criticism, with calls from prominent sports figures for him to apologize. Despite the backlash, Finidi has chosen to move past the incident.
In a statement to Nigeria Info FM, Finidi shared his perspective: “I sent him a message expressing that his reaction was not appropriate. Just because someone told you that I made a comment, it doesn’t mean you should address me publicly as if I made it in an interview.”
Finidi emphasized that he has since moved on from the issue, saying, “I haven’t heard from him since then. I wish everyone well, and only God can judge.”
Regarding suggestions that Osimhen should face disciplinary action, such as a ban from the national team, Finidi declined to comment, stating, “I don’t know about that. He is part of the team now; let him be. We cannot crucify him for his mistake. We have moved on, and life continues.
