The Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA) has continued its demolition exercise, clearing shanties and illegal structures blocking waterways and government right-of-way along Goodluck Jonathan Boulevard, from Mbierebe Junction to Nung Oku Junction, and back to Aka Road.
On the second day of the intensive exercise, the Agency Boss, Hon Anietie Eka, emphasized that the exercise is an ongoing process that has come to stay and warned the public to refrain from encroaching on government right-of-way and erecting unapproved structures in the capital city.
The former Lawmaker hinted that, the Agency has a monitoring team responsible for ensuring that no illegal structure is rebuilt after demolition. “The government is focused and determined to do the right thing, and we urge the public to cooperate with us to make Uyo a safe city we can all be proud of,” he said.
In the coming days, the Agency will extend its demolition exercise to other areas, including Oron Road to Udom Emmanuel Boulevard, Abak Road to Ikot Oku Ikono Flyover, Nwaniba Road to Ring Road 3, and Ikot Ekpene Road to Itam Junction.
Developers are advised to remove any illegal structures, as none will be spared by the team of town planners working with the Agency.
