The symbolic flag-off ceremony took place at Imo Street, Atai Ibiaku, on Friday, with an impressive turnout of local dignitaries, government officials, and appreciative residents.

During the ceremony, the Director of Works in Itu Local Government Council, Engr. Ime Peter, provided a succinct overview of the initiative, revealing that the road grading project had already commenced in various parts of Itu in the preceding days.

However, the Chairman decided to formally launch the exercise to emphasize his commitment to improving the infrastructural landscape of the area. Engr. Peter lauded Hon. Nkutt for his visionary leadership and for recognizing the pressing needs of the community.

In his address, Hon. Nkutt emphasized that the road grading initiative was a fundamental responsibility of government, especially at the local level, as part of remedial efforts to improve access and connectivity within Itu.

He articulated his administration’s unwavering focus on the welfare of the people, asserting that every step taken was geared towards ensuring that the citizens of Itu felt the tangible impact of good governance. “We are committed to bringing government closer to the people and creating lasting solutions to their daily challenges,” he affirmed.

Having already made visible progress in several wards, the Chairman marked this occasion as the official commencement of what is expected to be a transformative development for the Local Government.

He assured the people that his administration would continue to prioritize projects that directly benefit the masses, thereby bringing prosperity and improved quality of life to Itu’s residents.

A heartfelt Goodwill message was delivered by the Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kufreabasi Edidem, an indigene of the area. He commended Hon. Nkutt for his foresight, drawing parallels between the Chairman’s leadership and that of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, whose governance has brought notable progress to the state. “The Chairman is following the excellent example set by Governor Umo Eno, and we are grateful for his timely intervention in the road grading of our community,” he remarked.

The sentiments of gratitude were echoed by other prominent figures, including the Commissioner, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Civil Service Commission; Dr. Godwin Awah; Honourary Special Adviser to the Governor on Creative Industry, Hon. Idongesit Ituen; and the PDP Chapter Chairman in Itu, Evangelist Mrs. Inemesit Eduok, all of whom expressed their deep appreciation for the Chairman’s efforts in revitalizing road infrastructure within Itu.

In addition, the village head of Atai Ibiaku Itam, Eteidung Mkpong Okon, extended the community’s heartfelt gratitude for Hon. The event reached its peak when Hon. Nkutt personally mounted the road grading machinery, operating it to officially commence the road grading process. His hands-on involvement exemplified his dedication to the success of the initiative and his determination to lead by example.

Accompanying the Chairman at the event were the Vice Chairman of Itu Local Government Council, Hon. Helen Nta; the Leader of Itu Legislative Council, Hon. Godswill David; the Deputy Leader, Hon.
