The just concluded Local Government Area LGA elections across the nation on Saturday the 5th of October 2024, marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s governance as the Supreme Court grants autonomy to this tier of Government.
This autonomy empowers LGAs to make decisions crucial to local development and ensures accountability directly to the people they serve.
Following the emergence of the newly elected chairmen in various LGAs nationwide. These leaders will hold the key to driving grassroots development and governance that directly impacts the lives of citizens at the local level.
To foster national growth, it is all important for the grassroot leadership to prioritize transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery. By focusing on infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment at the grassroots, they can contribute significantly to overall national progress.
As they are set to assume office, It is crucial for all stakeholders, including candidates, political parties, and those who lost out during the contest, to avoid the trap of viewing elections as a do-or-die affair and join hands together to build prosperous nation.
