Aniefiok Nkom. The renovation, which includes a total overhaul of the building’s roof, interior, and exterior structures, has given the secretariat a fresh new look, boosting staff morale and productivity.

According to Chairman Nkom, the facelift was necessary to provide a conducive work environment that promotes psychological wellbeing and encourages staff welfare. “The working environment of staff could be affected, which in turn mars high productivity,” he explained. The renovation is part of Nkom’s blueprint to restore the lost glory of the local government area, which was once the first experimental local government in West Africa.

The renovation has been met with excitement and praise from staff, who commended Chairman Nkom for his laudable stride. Mrs. Inibehe Okoko, a staff member, described the renovation as “beautiful” and a “welcome development.” Comrade Emmanuel Ekanem, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ikot Ekpene branch, also expressed his heartfelt commendations to Nkom’s administration for prioritizing staff welfare and grassroots development.

In a significant development, Chairman Nkom has also successfully restored electricity to the council secretariat with the repairs of the 65KVA council-owned power plant. The renovation and restoration of electricity have not only improved the working conditions of staff but have also boosted their morale and productivity. As Comrade Ekanem noted, “Hon. Nkom’s intervention has brought this structure back to life, and it will undoubtedly have a positive impact on work productivity.”

Chairman Nkom’s efforts to restore the lost glory of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area have been widely praised by staff and stakeholders. His commitment to providing a conducive work environment and prioritizing staff welfare has set a high standard for leadership in the local government.
