Rep. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo has welcomed 21 newborn babies under the ‘Macaire Mother and Child Care Programme,’ the welfare scheme for pregnant women and infants he instituted in the Constituency. In his usual heartwarming gesture, the new babies received cash gifts from the lawmaker, presented to their mothers by his Special Assistant on Healthcare Services, Mrs Idara Edet Essien.
The presentation was made at the General Hospital Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, in Ikono Local Government Area today, 4th February 2025, where Mrs Essien reiterated Rep. Ukpong-udo’s commitment to promoting maternal and child health within the constituency.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for Ukpong-udo’s benevolence across the constituency.
Over the last 5 years since its commencement in November 2019, the ‘Macaire Mother and Child Care Programme,’ which aims at lowering maternal and infant mortality in Akwa Ibom state, has consistently provided relevant incentives for pregnant women from Ikono and Ini Local Government Areas to submit to professional medical care during pregnancy.
Rep. Ukpong-udo continues to encourage pregnant women from the two Local Government Areas to take advantage of this novel initiative, given its positive impact on the lives of constituents.
