In a bid to further strengthen it’s ranks, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward 6, ITU Local Government Area, has welcomed a new member, Christian Eton Mbeke into its fold.
Eton, a Town Planner by profession and a Crypto enthusiast, was received into the party, Saturday 2nd February, 2025 at a meeting held at the residence of the Ward Chairman in East Itam.
Notable party executives, leaders, and members in the Ward were in attendance. The young business man was warmly received by the party faithful, who expressed their excitement about his decision to join the PDP.
Receiving him into the PDP family, the Ward Chairman, Ubong Edem Udo, urged him to be committed to the party’s ideals. He assured Eton of the necessary support and guidance to enable him to contribute meaningfully to the party.
Also speaking at the gathering, Chief of Staff to the Chairman of ITU, Mr. George Akpan, described Eton’s decision to join the PDP family as a significant boost to the party, more so as ITU is currently governed by a youthful Chairman, Hon. Ubong Nkutt whose style of administration has drawn accolades.
He assured Eton of the readiness of the party structure in ITU to integrate him into the affairs of the party.
Mr. George a former grassroot Parliamentarian, having served as a Councilor in his Ward took time to enlighten the gathering on the significance of the entrant of Eton, a youth into the party. He explained that Eton’s decision to embrace the umbrella party was informed by the impressive performance of the current Chairman of ITU, Hon. Ubong Nkutt, who has brought development to the area in his first 100 days in office.
He listed the state of-the art administration block with 22 offices, and other several projects undertaken by the Chairman as laudable initiatives that has continued to attract more members to the party.
“We are going to integrate you fully into the party. ITU Chairman is a Youth and youth friendly. The Chairman we have who is sitting in Council has done so well”.
Mr. George also praised the ITU Chairman for approving the grading of a major linking road in the Ward, and equally commended Leader of ITU legislative Council, Hon. Godswill Jeremiah, for facilitating the road grading, saying the synergy that has existed between he Council Chairman, Hon. Ubong Nkutt and the legislature in ITU has made it possible for the massive road grading that has been witnessed IN ITU, assuring of more people oriented projects under the leadership of Hon. Ubong Nkutt.
“Through this Leader, the Chairman has brought presence to this Ward through the grading of this road which we all used while coming here”.
Earlier, a friend of the new party inductee, Mr. Aniebiet Antia, an agro-entrepreneur from Oku Iboku in ITU who introduced him to the Ward Executive and party faithful, described him as an asset to the PDP in East Itam Ward 6 and ITU Local Government as a whole, assuring of his readiness to partner the party in the development of the Ward.
“We are coming with an asset to the party. He will partner the party and stakeholders to develop the Ward and party, PDP”.
In their goodwill messages, the Leader of ITU Legislative Council, Hon. Godswill Jeremiah, Ward Secretary, Elder. Henry Ekong, a Youth Leader and Special Assistant to the Chairman of ITU on Protocol & Logistics, Mr. Amadi Emah, former SSA to the Chairman of ITU, Ofonime Ndem, PDP Woman Leader in ITU all echoed their excitement over the decision by Mr. Eton to join the PDP family in ITU. They described PDP as an umbrella party and a religion in Akwa Ibom, noting that the party is wide enough to accommodate all.
They described Eton’s decision to join the party as a significant boost to the PDP in ITU Ward 6, and the local government as a whole. They equally maintained that his arrival into the umbrella party is expected to bring new ideas and energy to the party.
They also enjoined him to abide by the constitution of the party, and strive to conduct himself in consonant with the rules regulation of the party, maintaining that PDP does not discriminate.
Addressing the party, Mr. Christian Eton Mbeke who hails from Nkim Itam, said his decision to join the PDP was inspired by his desire to contribute his quota to the development of his Ward and Local Government Area. He promised to contribute to the growth and progress of PDP in the area, thanked the party structure in the Ward for the warm reception.
Mr. Eton said he was impressed by the fact that a youthful Chairman is on the saddle in ITU as Council Chairman. He hailed Hon. Ubong Nkutt for demonstrating capacity in grassroot administration since he mounted the saddle of leadership in the local government.
