…says training designed to enhance entrepreneurial skills, boost food production
Ikot Ekpene Local Government Chairman, Hon. Aniefiok Nkom, has taken a significant step towards positioning Ikot Ekpene as the food basket of the state by training farmers on modern home gardening and farming practices.
The one-day agricultural training, which focused on the importance of home gardening, was organized by the Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council on January 13th at the Ikot Ekpene Town Hall.
Hon. Nkom urged the participants to utilize the opportunity to improve their lives through wealth creation. He emphasized that the training was designed to equip farmers with agricultural techniques and practices that would enhance their entrepreneurial skills and knowledge.
The Director of Agriculture, Mrs. Eno Augustine, expressed her gratitude to the Local Government Chairman for organizing the training, stating that it would position the trainees at the forefront of agriculture for development initiatives.
Resource persons, Mrs. Inimfon Patrick and Mrs. Eno Augustine, delivered lectures on the benefits and importance of home gardening, as well as the establishment of home gardens, covering topics such as site selection, crop selection, and garden design.
Participants appreciated the Chairman for training them on new farming techniques and promised to apply them practically to achieve the desired results.
