PRESS STATEMENT BY PROFESSOR ETIM ISAAC UDOESSIEN, DIRECTOR, KING’S KIDS CHRISTIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS, UYO, AKWA IBOM STATE
ON THURSDAY, 11TH APRIL, 2024 AS HOST OF MATH-A-THON, AN ATTEMPT TO BREAK THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS FOR THE LONGEST LESSON IN MATHEMATICS,
Gentlemen of the press and everyone present here today,
I welcome you all to King’s Kids Christian International High School, Uyo.
I am delighted to welcome the Math-A-Thon team, led by MC Calculus Nanga, as we host this event which is an attempt to break the Guinness World Records for the longest lesson in Mathematics here in our school in the city of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
King’s Kids Christian International High School is a coeducational Day and Boarding Cambridge School.
We are a Christian-based secondary school with a difference, as we maintain the United Nations approved
teacher to student ratio standard for secondary education.
Equipped with up-to-date facilities with qualified, committed, motivated and well trained teachers, we combine the Cambridge and the Nigerian curricula to
prepare our students for both national and Cambridge examinations.
We also have the Montessori school here in Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo which comprises the preschool ang the elementary school.
Here at the High School, we have the Junior Cambridge one to three, the Senior Cambridge one to three, the school of Basic Studies for university foundation, programme and the Advanced level school for Cambridge
A’ level examinations.
In addition, we register and prepare our students for English proficiency and university scholarship tests such as the IELTS, the TOEFL and the SAT. ‘

MATH-A-THON 2024: SETTING A MILESTONE IN MATHEMATICS: BEING TEXT OF A PRESS BRIEFING BY MR UDUAK NANGA, THE CANDIDATE FOR THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT FOR LONGEST HOURS IN TEACHING MATHEMATICS LESSON HELD TODAY 117 aprRit, 2024 AT KINGS KIDS CHRISTIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, 14) SAM EDEM STREET, EWET HOUSING ESTATE, UYO.
Distinguished members of the Press, I am quite delighted to welcome all of us to this media briefing arranged to enable me inform you and through you, Akwa Ibom people, Nigerians and indeed the global Community, of my preparedness to attempt a 150 hours Math-a-thon Guinness World Record for the Longest Mathematics Lesson.
I go by the name Uduak Nanga, an indigene of Osuk Ediene in Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa State, the land of limitless opportunities.
Known by friends and fans as MC Calculus, wherein comedy is a hobby dearest to me, I make bold to say that just as the jokes I crack to keep my audience and guests lively and thrilled at events, I also CRACK even the HARDEST of Mathematics problems with the knuckles of my God endowed wits.
That, perhaps gives you an insight into why the stage name MC CALCULUS. Even on stage, I serve my audience Mathematicsspiced jokes!!
While growing up, I came to hear most of my friends in school saying Mathematics is quite a difficult subject, hence they dreaded it; yet it was one subject I enjoyed the most throughout my early scholarly years. And it is still my best bet till date.
Beside God my Creator, Mathematics is indeed my first love, my passion. I take great pleasure in teaching Mathematics to all groups of persons for as long as they are ready and willing to go with me.
We should not forget that Mathematics provides mental strength and encourages logical reasoning. It cuts across all facets of life endeavours whether in the areas of Data Analysis, Time and Organizational Management, Communication and even in situations of critical decision making, Mathematics readily comes handy.
For me, it was the drive, the passion, the zeal that urged me to decide to set a Record in the world by teaching Mathematics lessons to groups of students for 150 hours non-stop and by God’s grace, to attempt the Guinness World Record, as a platform to tell the students that mathematics is fun.
Going forward, through this endeavour, we shall evolve a platform to build a generation of mathematicians while building the confidence of students and everyone else to find Mathematics as a likeable subject.
Furthermore, it is our intention to formally launch the MATHEMATICS CLUB OF NIGERIA (MCN) in Schools across the Country.
We are strongly believing that this initiative shall help arouse and maintain Students interest in the subject while providing them with limitless opportunities to horn their explorative, creative and inventive faculties.
therefore, while I earnestly set my mind and clearly express My commitment to the actualization of this dream and through it bring glory and honour to our beloved State and country, I wish to however inform us that a lot of logistics are required to successfully undertake
this project, aside my personal readiness.
Luckily, I have been offered the spacious and decent Kings Kids Hall of Fame Hall located at 143] Sam Edem Street, Ewet Housing Estate courtesy of the ever supportive management of Kings Kids Christian International Schools, but we will require uninterrupted power supply at the venue, we shall have to decorate and brand the hall as well as have the services of a functional Public Address or Sound system, produce branded T-shirts/Face caps, undertake intensive Publicity before, during and after the event as well as carry out Live Streaming of the exercise to the global audience. Thank God you all are here to make all that happen through
your goodwill. We shall also require Diesel to power the generating plants and even Solar as an alternative source of power supply to avoid any power hitch. . Distinguished guests, beloved members of the 4th Estate of the Realm, the Math-a-Thon Guinness World Record attempt, though was conceived by me is indeed a collective project, because it will require the benevolent support of all persons of goodwill in the areas of Transportation, standby Medical care and Ambulance, Food and Refreshments, Security and stipends to be paid as Honorarium to members of the ad hoc team that shall be handling the
logistics to ensure a smooth sailing event.
Just as the Math-athon or marathon goa-fund raiser project which supports the St. Jude Children Research Hospital at White Plains, New York city, USA, we have the burden of using our Math-a-thon project in Nigeria to impact humanity as well by donating Wheel Chairs and Reading materials to physically challenged persons amongst us, set up a Foundation to encourage the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics as well as give, writing materials, calculators, Scholarships and Laptops to Students who shall answer or solve Mathematic questions while the exercise lasts and even after. This shall be our humble way of giving back
to our society for that which God has endowed us with. Gentiemen of the Press, Ladies and gentlemen, let me again appreciate each and every one of you for your patience and audience.
I will humbly appeal that you let this briefing go viral, passionately market the project even as
you get ready to join us from 20th April this year by 4pm, when I shall formally commence my Guinness World Record attempt at the Hall of Fame of the King’s Kids Christian International
