United grabbed the lead through Alejandro Garnacho’s 82nd minute goal. It all looked like united had secured their first trophy for the season until Bernado Silva who was substituted for J. Mcatee in the 80th minute equalized the match.
Manchester City looked like a shadow of their self having been fortunate to grab an equalizer in a match united had 62% percent of procession.
City managed just one shot on target throughout 90 minutes of football in the wembley Statdium in London.
The match ended in penalties. Bernardo Silva, JodanSancho and Johnny Evans all missed their penalties. Manuel Akanji went ahead to secure the last penalty which handed City their first Trophy for the season.
It was a sign of better things to come as city had initially lost this same trophy to arsenal the previous season.
Hopefully, Ten Hag goes back to the drawing board and put his team in shape and in the right mentality as the season begins next weekend.
