The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa emerged victorious in all 18 local government areas of the state.
Announcing the results in Akure, INEC Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of Federal University, Lokoja, Prof. Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi, revealed that Aiyedatiwa polled 366,781 votes, while Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 117,845.
“Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of lawful votes cast, is hereby returned elected,” he declared.
Aiyedatiwa, who assumed office on December 27, 2023, succeeding the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, hails from Ilaje Local Government Area in the state’s southern senatorial district.
