Itu Council Chairman Reiterates Support for Veterans and Their Families

The Executive Chairman of ITU Local Government Council, Hon. Ubong Nkutt hasย  reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the armed forces, veterans and their family, stating, “It is our moral duty to stand by those who have stood for us.” The Executive Chairman announced a substantial cash donation to the Itu Legionnaires, providing crucial financial support to the local veterans’ community.

He made the remarks, Wednesday during the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony held at Mbak itam, the Council secreteriat.

Mrs. Idongesit Ubong Nkutt, wife of the Executive Chairman, demonstrated her compassion by donating wrappers and cash gifts to the widows of fallen soldiers. Major Archibong Eniang (Rtd) praised her initiative, calling it “unprecedented in the history of Armed Forces Remembrance events in Itu.”

The 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Itu was marked with a historic ceremony, as the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Council, Hon. Ubong Nkutt, led the proceedings. The event was a heartfelt tribute to the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for global and national peace.

Hon. Ubong Nkutt was joined by prominent figures, including the Itu Divisional Police Officer and the Paramount Ruler of Itu, in a wreath-laying ceremony. The Chairman of the Itu Legion, Major Archibong Eniang (Rtd), emphasized the challenges faced by the widows of fallen heroes and urged for continued support.

The event featured the decoration of dignitaries with the 2025 emblem, symbolizing their support for veterans and their families. Funds were also donated to support the emblem launch, reinforcing the significance of the day.

The ceremony was attended by a diverse group of notable figures, reaffirming their shared commitment to supporting the armed forces and working towards a more peaceful and prosperous nation.
