I’m Much Older Than Wike. He Should Apologize to Me for His Comments — FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe Tells Nyesom Wike

Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has responded to comments made by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Wike had threatened to remove her from office in 2027.

Both Kingibe and Wike have been in conflict since they started their jobs. Recently, Wike said during an event in Abuja that Kingibe would lose support in the 2027 elections.

He criticized her for not working with the FCT Administration and for being upset that people were praising the President’s administration.

Wike even said she should “hang herself on a transformer” if she was unhappy with his work in the FCT.

Kingibe, in an interview, said Wike doesn’t understand leadership in the FCT and should not speak to her disrespectfully. She believes he should apologize to her because she is much older than him.

Kingibe said, “He doesn’t understand the FCT. It’s not personal. Governance is not about friendship. I’m ready to work with him, but he must first apologize for telling me to hang on a transformer.

If he does, we can move forward. Until then, we stay separate. I am much older than him, and he should respect that.”
