…Donates N2 Million to Support Festive Celebrations
In the spirit of the season, the Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Elder Aniefiok Nkom, has donated N1 million to women and youths in the local government area ahead of the Christmas festivities.
The event, held on December 20th at the Ikot Ekpene Town Hall, brought together the youths and women from across the 12 wards of the local government area. Elder Nkom, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Affiong Nkom, appreciated them for their support during electioneering period which led to his emergence as Chairman of the local government council.

The chairman assured the women that their welfare would remain top priority in his administration. “We will continue to show you love and ensure your interests are well represented,” he promised.
In his words; “Your prayers and unwavering support during the elections made my victory possible. I cannot take your love and loyalty for granted, which is why I am here to show my appreciation and celebrate with you this Christmas.”
The Member representing Ikot Ekpene /Obot Akara State Constituency at the House of Assembly, Hon. Jerry Otu, also donated an additional N1 million to the women.
The wife of the Local Government Chairman, Mrs. Affiong Nkom expressed joy at the opportunity to connect with the women. She described them as the backbone of the local government, and commended their unwavering support throughout the electioneering period. “When my husband shared his plans to appreciate and support the women for Christmas, I was deeply moved. It is a privilege to join him in this gesture of love and gratitude,” she said.
Reacting to the gesture, the Chapter PDP Women Leader for Ikot Ekpene, Mrs. Justina Abel, lauded Elder Nkom and his wife for their generosity. She described Mrs. Nkom as a supportive partner and a compassionate leader who embodies kindness and care. She also praised Hon. Jerry Otu for his contributions to the event, emphasizing that their combined efforts had greatly uplifted the women during this festive period.
In a heartfelt show of gratitude, the women offered prayers for Elder Nkom, his wife , and Hon. Otu, asking for divine blessings, protection, and the strength to lead Ikot Ekpene to greater heights.
The event concluded with a vibrant celebration, including singing and dancing. The joyous atmosphere was the testament to the women’s appreciation and excitement as they prepare for a memorable Christmas.
