IKOT- EKPENE CHAIRMAN LAUDS MISS A’IBOM (USA) FOR KEYING INTO GOV ENO’s ARISE AGENDA

… solicits support for Ikot-Ekpene Library

The Transition Committee Chairman of kot Ekpene Local Government Council, Sir Hon John Cleton Etim, has applauded Miss Akwa Ibom (USA), Miss. Ekemini Usanga for keying into the ARISE AGENDA of Akwa Ibom State government.

Hon. John made the applause over the weekend in his office while playing host to the Miss Akwa Ibom and her enotourage.

Sir. Etim had congratulated Ekemini on her emergence as Miss Akwa Ibom in the United States of America, (USA), and particularly commended her for keying into the vision of Governor Umo Eno in the area of education, which he described as one of the priorities of the Governor’s Arise agenda. The letter E in the ARISE AGENDA of the Governor, represents Education.

He informed the delegation that a day before their arrival, the Council was at the church to mark the 73rd anniversary of the creation of Ikot Ekpene LGA, describing their visit to the council Secretariat as ‘more spiritual’.

Hon Etim drew the attention of Miss Akwa Ibom to the Ikot Ekpene Divisional Library recently remodelled, and solicited her support in the area of provision of books and other library materials to enable students enjoy the facility.

Speaking earlier, the USA based Miss Akwa Ibom, Ekemni O. Usanga said her visit was to discharge her community social responsibility, CSR, in the State, hence her decision to enlist Ikot Ekpene, being the oldest Local Government in the State and of course in Nigeria for her pet-project.

She further explained that she was in Ikot-Ekpene to distribute school materials such as books, bags, shoes, amongst others to primary school pupils in order to give them a sense of belonging and also give back to the society.

She commended the Chairman for the good works he is doing in the Council.

The Queen and her entourage later moved to St. Francis Primary School for distribution of education materials.

Present during the courtesy call were, Elder Edwin Akpan who is the Hon Supervisor for Information & Culture and Mrs Victoria Usoro, Hon supervisor for Education.
