Youths of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency have passed a vote of confidence on Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for what they described as the governor’s youth inclusive governance and youth friendly policies.

The youths made the vote, Monday, in Ikot Abasi, when the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, (Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency) Comrade Edidiong Dickson played host to a gathering of select youths from the constituency to mark the 2024 International Youth Day.

The vote was passed after a motion moved and seconded by His Youthship,Hon. Emem Alex and Mr. Roland Peter respectively.

Setting the tone for the event, Dickson noted that the purpose of the meeting was to inspire and motivate youths to take an active role in shaping their future and contributing to the constituency’s development, emphasizing the importance of youth participation in governance, while encouraging attendees to be agents of positive change. He also shared his vision for the constituency and outlined the governor’s plans to support youth development initiatives.

“As we mark this year’s International Youth Day, I want to seize this moment to acknowledge your invaluable contributions to our communities and the world at large. This day serves as a reminder of the power and potential of youth in driving positive change.

“I therefore encourage you all gathered here, representing the entirety of youths in our federal constituency, to embrace your passions, learn to voice your opinions respectfully, and stand up for the issues that matter to you and the constituency. Your energy and creativity are vital in shaping a brighter future for all of us”, Dickson stressed.

He further used the medium to appreciate the youths for heeding his earlier call on a violent free protest by not joining the #EndBadGovernance protest.

“I am committed to ensuring that the voices of our youths are heard, their yearnings ventilated and their interests represented”, he added.

In their responses, the attendees expressed gratitude to Dickson for his dedication to their welfare and empowerment.

According to Samuel Nteogwuijah, “we are grateful for the opportunity to engage with our leader and look forward to working together towards building a brighter future.”Fo
