…as AIBC lobbies for Trade & Investment portfolio

Akwa Ibom Business Community, (AIBC) which is an umbrella body for those engaging in one form of business or the other in the State, has pleaded with Governor Umo Eno to appoint his next Commissioner for Trade and Investment from amongst them to ensure a smooth implementation of the Governor’s ARISE Agenda in the area of trade, investment, small and medium enterprise development , as well as industralization.
President of the Akwa Ibom Business Community Mr. Lordswill Umani, while addressing the press over the weekend less than 24hours after the Exco dissolution, lamented that the 2.5Billion which the Governor promised as business support grant to the business sector in the State could not be assessed following the inability of the person who superintended over the Ministry of Trade and Investment as the Commissioner to follow up the Governor’s good intention for the private sector by reminding the Governor and ensuring that the funds were easily assessed by the business community in the State.
Mr. Umani, flanked by other members of the Akwa Ibom Business Community used the opportunity to dismiss a recent publication suggesting that the Governor may have abandoned the enlarged business community where he once served as the BOT Chairman.
Describing Governor Umo Eno as a promise keeper, Mr. Umani urged members of the Business Community to discountenance such publication as there was no iota of truth in the said report.
The AIBC is insisting that the next cabinet soon to be constituted by the Governor should comprise of people who will enable the Governor drive a viable business community in the State.
