In a recent statement, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has clarified that he has no plans to remarry following the passing of his wife, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno. Addressing guests at the Government House in Uyo, including Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, Governor Eno reaffirmed his dedication to continuing his late wife’s initiatives through her pet project, the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA).
“I am fully committed to carrying forward the work that my late wife began with GIFA,” Governor Eno asserted. “To ensure continuity, I have appointed my daughter, Helen Obareki, to deputize and oversee the activities of GIFA, ensuring her legacy endures.”
The Governor’s remarks come amidst speculation about his marital intentions following condolences from the wife of the President, Remi Tinubu, and other dignitaries who visited to show support.
He jokingly mentioned to Senator Akpabio that he has no intention to remarry at this time,” Governor Eno humorously remarked. “Financially and emotionally, no one can replace my late wife.”
Mrs. Patience Umo Eno passed away on September 27th in a United Kingdom hospital after battling an undisclosed illness. Despite this loss, Governor Eno remains resolute in maintaining the smooth operation of his administration.
