FREE FOOD DISTRIBUTION: INI PEOPLE APPRECIATE GOV UMO ENO’S HUMANITARIAN DISPOSITION

…pledge unalloyed support to his government

As the ongoing food distribution exercise enters day 5, vulnerable persons drawn from the 86 (eighty six) gazetted villages and 11(eleven ) wards in INI Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have sent messages of appreciation to Governor Umo Eno for his humanitarian disposition.

The vulnerables who are direct beneficiaries of food palliatives including , rice, beans and garri provided by Governor Umo Eno through the Bulk Purchase Agency could not hide their joy, Tuesday 24th September 2024 when the food truck from the agency landed at Odoro-Ikpe, the INI council headquarters, as they filed out in an orderly manner to take possession of their food items.

In their separate reaction, Jacob Akpayak Essien of Akpayak Ikpe, Ward 1, Esit Mbom Udo Adaewang from Ward2, Iquo Solomon from Ananammong-Ward 3, Inimfon Edet Udo from Odoro Ikpe, Obong Anwan Anthony Inyang, Nsikan Ubong Udo and Joy Edem from ibam who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, said the food items would go a long way in assuaging their plight at a time the country is experiencing food scarcity and high cost of food items.

While describing Governor Umo Eno as the best thing that has happened to INI, the beneficiaries said they had since keyed into the back to farm initiative of the government, and pledged their unalloyed support to the government.

Recall that the Governor had while launching the ARISE food distribution program, emphasized that the exercise is an intervention, as lasting solution is for all to ‘return to the farm to grow our staple foods’.

Also reacting stakeholders of the local government area who were on hand to receive the team from the Bulk Purchase Agency, including, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Offiong Offor, a former Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly and Honorary Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Projects, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong, a former Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Gloria Edet and the Transition Committee Chairman of the local government area, Mr. Innocent Udom, commended the Governor for considering the plights of the downtrodden, and being responsive to their needs.

Earlier, the General Manager of the Bulk Purchase Agency, Hon. Unyime Etim who led other members of staff of the agency to INI, explained that the food palliative was a clear demonstration of the humane disposition of Governor Umo Eno.

The distribution exercise was also witnessed by the Political Leader of INI, Prof. Ini Udoaka, Media Consultant to the Governor, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, among others.

The food distribution exercise continues tomorrow, Wednesday in ONNA Local Government Area.
