Earlier today, the member representing Essien Udim State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Prince Ukpong Akpabio joined the family of Idung Abia Atara of Oniok Edo in Esit Eket Local Government Area at the burial of their patriarch, Chief Abia Uttibpeune Abia at the age of 79.
The funeral took place at Salvation Army Primary School, Oniok Edo, where Prince Akpabio, who is the Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges, described the death of Chief Abia as painful.
He said the septuagenarian gave his best as a chieftain of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party who contributed immensely to the electoral success of the party and the development of his community.
Prince Akpabio said although Chief Abia is gone, his legacy of love and kindness will forever be immortalised, urging his children and other members of the bereaved family including his friend, Mr. Raymond Abia to take solace in the fact that their father lived a fulfilled life and left a mark as a distinct leader.
