The joy of 21 indigenes of Odoro Ikot Ward II in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State knew no bounds yesterday as they smiled home with N100,000 cash each, courtesy of the member representing Essien Udim State House of Assembly, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II.
This brings to 100 so far, the total of beneficiaries of the Prince Ukpong Akpabio Business Support Grant amounting to N10m in the last nine months of his tenure as a lawmaker.
The latest beneficiaries from Odoro Ikot Ward II are: Jeremiah Chrysanctus Jeremiah; Idorenyin Stephen, Ndiana Anthony Udo; Kufre Saviour Udoekaebe from Ikot Utin; Felicia Idorenyin Sylvanus; Etop Peter Udoekong, Ikot Uko; Etekamba Nelson, Augustine Udo Udoudo, Lucy Joseph Udo, Ikot Udu; Nseobong Okon Jimmy, Grace Umoren, Friday John Ibanga, Nsima Sunday Mark and Ebere Cosmas Ebere, Ikot Idem.
Others are; Ekerette Marcus Asanganenge, Etop Peter Udoekong, Ikot Uko; Regina Peter Paul, Akaninyene Idio Umoren, Ikot Ebok; Maurice Effiong, Ikot Okon; Nsinana Joseph Peter, Grace Sunday Akpan, Idung Esimuk; and Uwem Philip Essien, Ikot Andem.
Presenting the cash to them, Prince Ukpong who is the Chairman, House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges explained that the monthly ward-to-ward briefing and empowerment was in fulfilment of his campaign promise in support of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE agenda on youth empowerment and entrepreneurial development.
He thanked the people of Essien Udim for their support and solidarity and reiterated his determination to change the narrative in legislative business by always being there for his people.
In a goodwill message, Leader of Odoro Ikot Ward II, Obong Francis Obuji alias Ukoromi Oil, PDP ward chairman, Prince Maxwell Ikut; and Director General, AkeminiAwasi Campaign Organisation, the campaign council of Prince Ukpong Akpabio, Hon. Emmanuel Useh described the Essien Udim representative as a promise keeper, saying they were impressed with Prince Akpabio’s representation.
Prince Akpabio received members of the opposition parties who defected to the ruling PDP in Odoro Ikot Ward II at the event attended by the Vice Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government Transition Committee, Hon. Imoh Etim Asuquo; Secretary of the Committee, Hon. Uduak Umoh; Personal Assistant to the Governor from Odoro Ikot Ward Two, Hon. Eventus Albert; Board Member, Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, Obong Nsini Umana; former Vice Chairman of Local Government, Hon. Emem Ekarika, former Supervisor for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon. Uwem Bernard; former Supervisor for Education, Itoro Akpan as well as Transition Committee members, PDP ward executive members.
