The arrival of the ARISE Free Food Truck, managed by the Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency, brought relief to residents of Oron Local Government Area, Tuesday.
Essential food items, including rice, beans, and garri, were distributed to thousands of beneficiaries from the 11 wards in the area.





The beneficiaries included vulnerable individuals, widows, persons with disabilities, and families facing economic hardship. Many expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Umo Eno for this timely intervention, noting that the food items would significantly alleviate their suffering.
In interviews with reporters, several beneficiaries shared their appreciation. Esther Ubong Effiong from Eyotong village, Alice Edet from Idua village, Alice Okon Asuquo, Atim Baseey Effanga, Elizabeth Okon Etifik from Ward 4, and a visually impaired recipient, Osudu Edem Osudu from Eyoabasi, praised the Governor and the Bulk Purchase Agency for addressing their needs during these challenging times.
Speaking during the distribution on behalf of the Governor, the General Manager of the Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency, Hon. Unyime Etim, emphasized that the program aims to cushion the impact of economic hardship on vulnerable populations.
The Chairman of Oron Local Government Area, Chief Okon Asuquo Enweme, described Governor Umo Eno as a “people’s Governor.” He reaffirmed Oron LGA’s support for the ARISE food security program, lauding it as a key initiative of the Governor’s administration.
