AKHA PASSES N955B BUDGET FOR 2025 FISCAL YEAR

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, has passed the 2025 Appropriation bill of N955 billion, with 21 internal Adjustments for implementation by the State Government.

The passage of the 2025 budget was effected following the submission of the report by the member for Uruan State Constituency who also doubled as the Chairman,House Committee on Appropriations and Finance, Dr. Itorobong Etim for consideration during Tuesday’s Plenary.

Dr. Etim, said her Committee while Legislating on the budget, successfully amended 17 items on recurrent and four items on capital expenditure, bringing to 21 the number of items amended on Capital and Recurrent Expenditure respectively.

She explained that her Committee decided to carry out internal Adjustments between Heads and Sub-heads in some Ministries, Departments and Agencies for the purpose of effectively meeting their needs.

Etim, noted that under the Ministry of Education, her Committee saved N4.670billion from the proposed provision of N14.100b, reducing the provision to N9.430billion while the sum of N7.900 billion was saved from the proposed provision of N51.000 billion for the Ministry of Health thereby reducing to N43.100 billion in their capital expenditure respectively.

The Uruan Lawmaker, posited that her Committee recommended the sum of N300,000,000.00 for recurrent expenditure and the sum of N655,000,000.00 for capital Expenditure, bringing to N955,000,000,000.00 the total budget outlay for 2025 fiscal year.

The Deputy Leader of the House and member for Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Otobong Bob moved motion for the passage of the Appropriation bill and seconded by Hon. Eric Akpan of Nsit Ibom State Constituency, having been deliberated upon by members during the Committee of Supply and the Whole.

The 2025 Appropriation of N955billion was read for the third time and passed on the floor of the Assembly.

The 2025 budget of Consolidation and Expansion of N955B was predicated on the oil bench mark of 75 Dollars per barrel per day and an estimated exchange rate of N1.400 per Dollar.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. ( Elder ) Udeme Otong Who presided over the plenary , directed the Clerk, Mrs NsikakAbasi Orok to communicate the resolution to the Executives of the Government for implementation.

Meanwhile, the House has adjourned plenary to January 9th, 2025 by 10.a.m
