Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making the State an uncomfortable place for criminals and those who enable their activities.
The Governor made this declaration during the swearing-in ceremony of six newly appointed high court judges at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo.
He emphasized that his leadership remains focused on serving the people, ensuring strict adherence to the rule of law, and fostering a society free of criminal elements. This, he said, will enable residents to conduct their businesses peacefully in a safe and secure environment.
Governor Eno expressed optimism that the addition of more judges to the judiciary would facilitate the swift dispensation of justice, ensuring that criminals are promptly tried and punished according to the law.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to supporting the judiciary, the Governor said, “The Judiciary, as often stated, remains the last hope of the common man. I have no doubt that you will continue to deliver justice fairly, without fear or favor. The Executive will maintain a strong partnership with the Judiciary to ensure peace and security across our State.”
Congratulating the newly inaugurated judges, Governor Eno described their elevation as a reflection of their professional competence, exemplary judicial track records, and years of dedication to their careers. He also thanked the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and the Nigerian Judicial Council (NJC) for their support and recommendations. Additionally, he commended the State Chief Judge, Justice Ekaete Obot, for fostering collaboration within the judiciary.
The ceremony, attended by key dignitaries including the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Ekaete Obot; and Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, also featured the presentation of official vehicles to the newly appointed judges to aid them in carrying out their duties effectively.
