… awards N2 million business grant to constituents
Prince Ukpong Akpabio, the member representing Essien Udim in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, on Monday, January 3, conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new 3-classroom block at St. Aloysius Primary School in Ukana Akpautong.
The building, which is part of Prince Akpabio’s constituency project, comes in fulfilment of an electioneering promise he made to the people of Ukana Akpautong autonomous community which include Ikot Edet, Ikot Akpan Ntia, Onuk Nkop Ekpo, and Ikot Udo Idem villages.
During the event, the lawmaker also announced a N1 million business grant, distributing N200,000 each to 5 constituents selected through a raffle draw and an extra 1 million naira for the event.
Prince Akpabio reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the Ukana Akpautong communities and his dedication to making meaningful contributions as their representative in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
In response, Mr. Mfon Philemon Ekanem, the Chairman of Ukana Ukpautong group of villages, expressed gratitude to Prince Akpabio for his exemplary representation in the State Legislature and his ongoing support for his constituents.
Ekanem thanked the lawmaker for initiatives such as the scholarship program for indigenous students from Ukana Akpautong studying in higher institutions and various water projects in the area, while praying for continued blessings upon him.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of an Outstanding Achievers Award to Prince ukpong Akpabio by Nka Uforo Ibaan Akpautong, a prominent women’s group in Ukana.
Other dignitaries present at the event included Hon. Aniekan Akpan, the Ward Leader of Ukana West II, also known as Authority; former lawmaker Rt. Hon. Nse Ntuen; Hon. Bassey Akpan, the PDP Ward Chairman for Ukana West II; and PDP Chapter Secretary David James.
Others are Apostle Gregory Edo; Elder Prince Udioko;Elder Etiuwem Umoren; Mr. Abraham Akpadiaha, a governor’s aide; Hon. Nsikak Akpan; Comrade Raymond Ekpe; and Etieno Tom, Special Assistant to the Senate President.
Additionally, the family heads and village heads of Ikot Edet, Ikot Akpan Ntia, Onuk Nkop Ekpo, Ikot Udo Idem and PDP ukana west ll Ward executives were in attendance.
