… touches hearts of pupils and teachers

In a heartwarming display of kindness, Mrs. Idongesit Ubong Nkutt, wife of the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Area, donated essential school supplies to the pupils of Government School, Ikot Uso Akpan Itam. This generous act was a testament to her commitment to improving the educational experience of children in the area.

The donation included vital items such as exercise books, pens, pencils, school uniforms, and sandals. Mrs. Nkutt also provided a one-day lunch for the pupils, delivering packs of sandwiches and juice. Furthermore, she presented a substantial cash donation to cover the cost of sewing the uniform materials, ensuring the pupils would receive properly tailored uniforms.

Mrs. Nkutt’s decision to donate was inspired by a previous visit to the community, where she witnessed many pupils attending school without uniforms and some without shoes. Moved by their plight, she took immediate action to address their urgent needs.

The headmistress, Mrs. Mfon Okon, expressed her gratitude to Mrs. Nkutt, recognizing her as the “Eka Esit Mbom Itu,” meaning “Compassionate Mother of Itu Local Government Area.” The village head of Ikot Uso Akpan, Eteidung David Etok, also thanked Mrs. Nkutt and offered prayers for her and her husband.

Mrs. Nkutt emphasized the importance of quality education and urged teachers to take their work seriously in nurturing the pupils. She also acknowledged the continued dedication of the Office of the First Lady, now coordinated by Mrs. Helen Obareki, to ensuring that all children in the state receive proper education.

In alignment with the educational goals of the Akwa Ibom State government, led by Governor Pastor Umo Eno, and the late First Lady’s vision for the education of every child in the state, Mrs. Nkutt demonstrated her commitment to helping children access necessary educational tools.

The pupils were overjoyed by the unexpected gifts, singing and clapping in appreciation. Their faces glowed with excitement as they received the essential school supplies that would aid them on their educational journey.

Mrs. Nkutt’s selfless act has set a shining example for others to follow, demonstrating the positive impact that individual efforts can have on the lives of others. Her commitment to improving education in the area is truly commendable, and her generosity will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the pupils of Government School, Ikot Uso Akpan Itam.
