In a heartwarming display of appreciation, the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council, led by Governor Umo Eno have commended the leadership and staff of the Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency for their outstanding performance in distributing food items across the state.
The agency’s efforts ensured that the food items reached the 31 Local Government Areas of the state in an orderly and hitch-free manner, without any reported fatalities.
The commendation was made on Monday during the last State Exco meeting for the year, 2024 presided over by the Governor-in Council, Pastor. Umo Eno.
Briefing the press at the end of the State Exco meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Enemobong, had disclosed that the Governor and Members of the State Executive Council were impressed with the way and manner the Bulk Purchase Agency carried out the food distribution exercise without any reported incident of a stampede or any casualty.
In his words; “Additionally, the leadership and staff of the State Bulk Purchase Agency were appreciated for the orderly and hitch-free distribution of the food items in the 31 Local Government Areas of the state, without any fatality”.
The success of the food distribution program under the able watch of the Chairman of the agency, Dr. Dan Akpan and the General Manager, Hon. Unyime Etim is a testament to the agency’s dedication and hard work. Governor Eno had inaugurated the Board of the State Bulk Purchasing Agency earlier this year, charging them to ensure transparency and accountability in their operations.
The agency has clearly taken this mandate to heart, demonstrating their commitment to serving the people of Akwa Ibom State. Recall that the second phase of the food distribution which commenced September this year was rounded off in December. The third phase of the food distribution is expected to commence by first quarter of 2025.
The food distribution program is part of Governor Eno’s administration’s efforts to alleviate the economic hardships faced by the people of Akwa Ibom State. The program aims to provide staple food items to the needy and vulnerable populations in the state. The agency’s successful distribution of these food items has brought relief to many families and individuals across the state.
The Governor’s appreciation for the agency’s efforts is a well-deserved recognition of their hard work and dedication. The agency’s staff have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their duties, ensuring that the food items were distributed efficiently and effectively. Their efforts have not only brought relief to the people of Akwa Ibom State but have also contributed to the state’s overall development.
