In a heartwarming display of kindness and generosity, Mrs. Affiong Nkom, the wife of the Council Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, has brought joy and relief to senior citizens in the local government area. On December 24, 2024, she hosted the Raffia City Senior Citizens’ Christmas Party at the Council’s Secretariat, where she donated gifts to the elderly to ease their burden during the festivities.
The event featured a range of activities, including a health talk by Dr. Uduak Akpan, who advised the elderly to maintain healthy habits, such as eating well, staying hydrated, getting adequate exercises, and spending time with loved ones. Mrs. Nkom emphasized the importance of prioritizing health and maintaining healthy habits, especially during the festive season.
The gifts, which included wrappers, bags of rice, and cash, as well as free medical check-ups, were imperative to ameliorate the challenges associated with old age.
