… Akwa Ibom Community Abuja Hails Minister’s Gesture
In the spirit of the yuletide season, Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. (Obongemem) Ekperikpe Ekpo , has offered Free Transportation Scheme to Akwa Ibom Indigenes residing and working in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs through the platform of Akwa Ibom Community Abuja.
The gesture is in fulfilment of the promise made by Ekpo during a visit by the leadership of the Community to him prior to the Cultural Fiesta 2024, hosted by the Akwa Ibom Community in Abuja to provide Free Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Buses 🚌 to convey people from Abuja to Akwa Ibom during the 2024 Yuletide and take them back after the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The Gas Minister’s initiative of sponsoring the Free Transportation Scheme to Akwa Ibom Indigenes in Abuja stems from his love for the people and his desire to ease transportation costs, enabling them to reunite with their immediate and extended families in Akwa Ibom State.
Louis Ibah , who is the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo, said the Minister’s gesture is a testament to his commitment to the well-being and unity of Akwa Ibom indigenes, demonstrating his dedication to their happiness and prosperity.
Ibah quoted Ekpo as encouraging everyone to embody the spirit of peaceful coexistence, love and kindness. He also emphasized that efforts are underway to make CNG buses and refueling stations available nationwide, including Akwa Ibom State, to benefit all citizens.
Expressing his gratitude, the President of Akwa Ibom Community in Abuja, Barr Aniefiok Ibah, on behalf of Akwa Ibom indigenes residing and working in the Federal Capital Territory under the aegis of Akwa Ibom Community Abuja expressed appreciation to the Honourable Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. (Obongemem) Ekperikpe Ekpo for his love, thoughtfulness and magnanimity to Akwa Ibom indigenes in the FCT by sponsoring the Free Transportation Scheme to convey indigenes in Abuja to and from Uyo for the Yuletide.
The Community President described the Gas Minister as a blessing to the Community and prayed God to bless him, his family and the Ministry.
He used the occasion to wish Akwa Ibom indigenes, members of the Community, the people and government of Akwa Ibom State a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year. The Community Leader wished the members journey mercies and a peaceful celebration.
The Free Buses conveying indigenes to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital departed the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja from Akwa Ibom House opposite Federal Ministry of Finance Abuja on Saturday, 21st December, 2024 and will return them to the FCT in January 2025, after the holidays.
