… hails Gov. Umo Eno, health care providers
In a bid to reduce childhood morbidity and mortality, the Wife of the Chairman, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Mrs. Affiong Nkom, has flagged off the Routine Immunization intensification Exercise, tagged “The Big Catch-Up”.
The exercise, which took place at Mbiaso Health Post on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, aims to vaccinate children aged between zero to 59 months against killer diseases. Mrs. Nkom emphasized the importance of making children available for the vaccination program, stating that “prevention is better than cure”.
The Ikot Ekpene First Lady appreciated the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for providing necessary support and avenues for vaccination, particularly for those who missed out during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also commended health workers for their commitment to healthcare service delivery.
Earlier, the Director of Health Services, Ikot Ekpene Local Government, Mrs. Mfon Udofia, urged the community to take advantage of the immunization exercise, which would help eradicate childhood mortality in Ikot Ekpene.
