The Executive Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Hon. Aniefiok Nkom, has reiterated his commitment to transforming the area into a hub of development and progress.
Speaking, today at the inaugural Covenant Service held at the Ikot Ekpene Town Hall hall, Hon. Nkom unveiled his administration’s plans to embark on a comprehensive development agenda aimed at restoring the area’s former glory. He emphasized that his administration is committed to ensuring that the people of Ikot Ekpene enjoy the dividends of democracy.
As part of his development plans, Hon. Nkom announced the launch of “Operation Zero Potholes” aimed at ensuring that all roads in the area are free from potholes and defects. He also revealed plans to reposition all motor parks in the area, emphasizing the need for cleanliness and orderliness.
The Council Boss also used the occasion to announce plans to reorganize the Urua Otor Market, ensuring safety and serenity in the area. He also promised to refurbish the Ikot Ekpene Council Hall and announced plans to host a coral night event this year.
Arch Bishop Etim Ekong, who delivered the homily at the Covenant Service, emphasized the importance of repentance, humility, and trust in God to achieve restoration. He urged the people of Ikot Ekpene to embrace peace, love, and unity, emphasizing that God is ready to intervene and restore the area to its former glory.
The event was attended by notable figures, including the Chairman’s wife, Mrs. Affiong Nkom, a former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, and Political Leader of Ikot Ekpene, Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien, immediate and past Federal House members, State House of Assembly member, Hon Jerry Otu, Paramount Ruler, HRM Okuku Okon Udo Ukut, political stalwarts, religious leaders, choristers amongst others.
