ABAK LGA BENEFITS FROM GOV. ENO’S FREE FOOD DISTRIBUTION INITIATIVE

Abak Local Government Area has benefitted from Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Free Food Distribution Initiative, now in its second phase, with thousands of beneficiaries going home with various food items.

The program aims to alleviate hunger and enhance food security among citizens.

The food distribution exercise, held yesterday at the Council Secretariat, was warmly received by excited beneficiaries, many of whom expressed gratitude as they left with essential food items such as rice, beans, and garri. The initiative reflects Governor Umo Eno’s dedication to the welfare of citizens, particularly the most vulnerable.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency (AKBPA), Rt. Hon. Dr. Dan Akpan, who supervised the distribution, described the ARISE Food Security Program as a clear demonstration of Governor Eno’s commitment to improving the lives of citizens. He highlighted the program’s potential to leave a lasting impact on its beneficiaries.

Dr. Akpan encouraged the people of Abak to continue supporting the Umo Eno-led administration, promising more people-oriented programs and projects in the near future. He also announced plans to return to Abak in December for the third phase of the free food distribution.

Reacting to the event, the Council Chairman of Abak, Hon. Mrs. Ime Charles, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Governor for his generosity and thoughtfulness. She noted that the ARISE Food Security Program has brought much-needed relief to families struggling to make ends meet. She also pledged the continued cooperation and support of the government and people of Abak to ensure the program’s success.

Other notable stakeholders from the area, including the Media Consultant to the Governor, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, and the Managing Director of Akwa Ibom Property Investment Company (APICO), among others, also praised the Governor’s efforts. They conveyed the community’s gratitude and assured their unwavering loyalty to his administration.

Several beneficiaries who spoke with newsmen, such as Nse Friday Sam from Oku Abak Village, Deaconess Atim Peter Ekpenyong from Abak Village, Theresa Ezekiel Etim from Abak Itenge, and Enomfon Brown from Ward 5, Utu Edem Usung,offered prayers for the Governor, thanking him for his timely intervention. They also commended the Bulk Purchase Agency for ensuring fair and transparent distribution of the items, emphasizing that beneficiaries were selected based on vulnerability and need.

This initiative is part of Governor Umo Eno’s broader vision to improve the welfare and food security of citizens across the state.
