In the heart of Akwa Ibom State, the people’s aspirations for quality infrastructure are paramount. It is essential that the financial resources allocated for public contracts resonate with the needs and desires of the populace, as these funds are derived from the hard-earned taxes of the citizens.
Therefore, the community rightfully possesses the authority to scrutinize any misappropriation of public funds. However, such criticism must be constructive, avoiding the pitfalls of envy and malicious intent that can distort genuine discourse.
The Akwa Ibom State government has established a reputation for its commitment to quality road construction, a hallmark of its leadership ethos.
The roads built under its auspices are designed to withstand the test of time, reflecting an unwavering dedication to excellence in infrastructure.
Thus, any critique leveled at Henzek Integrated Services regarding the deteriorating sections of Abak Road ,a road originally constructed nearly two decades ago by Gitto Construction—seems to veer dangerously close to unwarranted scapegoating.
Indeed, the work carried out by Henzek Integrated Services throughout the state has consistently met international standards. The firm has never been implicated in the delivery of substandard construction, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by other state governments, which have begun to entrust their road projects to this burgeoning construction company.
Rather than tarnishing the reputation of Henzek Integrated Services, which is on the verge of becoming a multinational entity, the people of Akwa Ibom should consider celebrating its achievements and contributions to the state.
The original construction of Abak Road took place during the administration of Obong (Arc) Victor Attah, over twenty years ago. Given the heavy traffic that the road endures daily, it is not surprising that certain segments may begin to show signs of wear.
However, it is crucial to recognize that the current issues plaguing this road are exacerbated by local residents and passersby who irresponsibly dispose of refuse in the drainage systems. This indiscriminate dumping obstructs waterways, leading to flooding that adversely affects the road’s integrity.
Instead of directing blame toward Henzek Integrated Services, it would be more prudent for the community to call upon its residents to cease the improper disposal of waste in the drainage systems. This collective responsibility is vital to preserving not only the road but also the overall infrastructure of Akwa Ibom Stste .
In response to these challenges, Governor Umo Eno has demonstrated a proactive stance by directing the Akwa Ibom Road and Other Infrastructure Agency to address the compromised sections of Abak Road promptly.
Moreso, he has instructed the Ministry of Environment, through its relevant agency, to clear refuse from the drainage systems to ensure the unimpeded flow of water during the rainy season.
It is imperative for the people of Akwa Ibom to cultivate a spirit of encouragement and support for the enterprises that contribute to their development.
By promoting a culture of appreciation for companies such as Henzek Integrated Services, which has provided jobs for over 6,000 residents of Akwa Ibom and has established itself as one of Nigeria’s leading construction firms, citizens can help strengthen the groundwork for future growth and success.
Rather than seeking to undermine the progress made, let us unite in promoting our local assets, nurturing them into formidable entities that can elevate our state on the international stage.
The exceptional quality of work delivered by Henzek is indisputable. An evaluation of projects such as the 3rd Ring Road, the dualization of Udom Emmanuel Boulevard Superhighway (formerly Airport Road), and the dualization of the 2nd Ring Road serves as a testament to Henzek’s evolution into a distinguished international construction firm.
