The Media Consultant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, has stated that the dualization of the Nung-Udoe–Afaha Offiong, Nsit-Ubium road, complete with abutments, will ease transportation, improve connectivity, and stimulate economic activities in the region.
Speaking during a live radio program on Inspiration FM on Wednesday, Hon. Umanah responded to the Governor’s recent announcement in Nsit-Ubium during a project inauguration. He shared that the road project has been included in the 2025 budget and is expected to begin in the first quarter of next year. This dualization will significantly enhance connectivity, linking Ibesikpo Asutan, Nsit-Ibom, Nsit-Ubium, and Eket, and extending to the East-West Road—a major highway connecting additional local government areas.
Hon. Umanah emphasized that the Governor is dedicated to the development and well-being of the State and called for continued support, prayers, and cooperation from the people to help him succeed in his ARISE Agenda.
He noted that the Governor’s efforts are reaching every part of the State, with impact seen in road infrastructure, healthcare, Compassionate Homes for the homeless, agriculture, and various other sectors.
“I commend His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, for announcing the dualization of the Nung-Udoe–Afaha-Offiong, Nsit-Ubium road with abutments. This significant project, which will be included in the 2025 budget, will improve transportation and connectivity from Nung-Udoe to Nsit-Ibom, Nsit-Ubium, extending to the East-West Road and Eket,” he said.
Highlighting the success of the ARISE Food Security Program, the Governor’s aide disclosed that the program, now in its second phase, is progressing steadily. He assured that the government is committed to ensuring food availability and affordability through substantial investments in agriculture, the model farm project, and the “Back-to-Farm” initiative—all aimed at finding a lasting solution to the food crisis in the country.
Providing an update on the ongoing ARISE free food distribution, now in its second phase, Hon. Umanah revealed that thousands of beneficiaries across 19 local government areas have received free food items from the State government through the Bulk Purchase Agency. He added that the remaining 12 local government areas will be served within the next two weeks, paving the way for the program’s third phase, set to begin in December.
“The ARISE Food Security Program is progressing well. I must commend His Excellency, the Governor, for this compassionate and legacy-building initiative,” he said.
Hon. Umanah, a former House of Representatives member and past Commissioner for Information, also praised the Governor for introducing the ARISE Compassionate Homes initiative, which has brought hope to the homeless. Many individuals who never imagined owning a home are now proud homeowners, thanks to the Governor’s benevolence.
“Through the ARISE Compassionate Homes initiative, Governor Umo Eno aims to provide 400 homes in four years. So far, he has handed over 36 homes in Season One and is now delivering 62 more in Season Two, bringing the total to 98 homes in less than a year since the program began. He has transformed the lives of individuals who were once homeless, turning them into homeowners. This is a project the Governor is deeply passionate about,” he stated.
