Thousands of beneficiaries from 87 villages across the 13 wards in Ukanafun Local Government Area went home yesterday (Friday) with bags of rice, garri, and beans, thanks to Governor Umo Eno’s initiative.
The distribution event took place at the council secretariat in Ikot Akpa Nkuk, where beneficiaries, identified as vulnerable members from the social register, expressed gratitude and praised Governor Umo Eno for his commitment to supporting grassroots communities.
They commended the government’s ARISE food security program and prayed for divine guidance for the Governor as he leads the state forward.
During the distribution, the General Manager of the Akwa Ibom Bulk Purchase Agency, Hon. Unyime Etim, noted that the Governor is empathetic to the challenges faced by vulnerable residents and has mobilized efforts to provide relief for them.
In response, the Council Chairman of Ukanafun LGA, Hon. Prince Uyo Asuquo Ukpanah, described the free food distribution as a commendable and innovative program. He thanked the Governor for supplying 5,000 bags of staple food items to those in need within Ukanafun and assured the government of the continued support and cooperation of the local administration.
Former House of Assembly member Dr. Charity Ido, present to help facilitate the distribution, also praised the Governor for his compassionate approach.
