EXCITED BENEFICIARIES FROM 197 VILLAGES IN IBENO RECEIVE FREE FOOD FROM AKSG

It was a moment of excitement, Thursday October, 31st 2024 when the team from the Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency, made a stop over at Upenekang, IBENO Local Government Secretariat to distribute thousands of food items to beneficiaries.
Led by the Executive Chairman of the Agency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Dan Akpan, and the General Manager, Hon . Unyime Etim, the team supervised the distribution of 5000 staple food items, including bags of rice, garri and beans to vulnerable persons in the local government area captured in the social Register.
Addressing beneficiaries, the Executive Chairman of the Bulk Purchase Agency, Dr. Dan Akpan explained that the palliatives was in fulfillment of the promises made by the Governor in response to the current economic situation, adding that the government has put in place necessary measures to boost food agriculture and food security in the State.
General Manager of the Agency, Hon. Unyime Etim reminded them that only persons captured in the social Register were eligible as beneficiaries, advising those yet to be captured to remain calm and they would be captured in the next phase of registration.
The Chairman of Ibeno LGA, Hon. Mrs. Glory Ekah Effiong, the Vice-Chairman of the Council, Hon. Ukpong Dan Okon, a former Council Chairman High Chief William Mkpa, Council officials, Ward PA’s to the Governor and stakeholders in the LGA were present to oversee and coordinate the distribution process.
The Council boss, Hon. Glory Ekah and immediate past Chairman of Council, High Chief William Mkpa in their separate remarks, commended Governor Umo Eno for his welfarist approach to governance and for ensuring that food is given to vulnerable groups irrespective of political affiliation.
They particularly lauded the idea behind the setting up of the Bulk Purchase Agency and the launching the ARISE Security program, and pledged the continuous support of the government and people of IBENO local government area to his administration.
Vulnerable groups in ITU Local Government Area will tomorrow, Friday have their turn, as the food truck will be be visiting Mbak Atai Itam, the Council headquarters to share the food palliative.
