LAWMAKER TO BUILD TWO-BEDROOM BUNGALOW FOR WIDOW IN ESSIEN UDIM, SPLASHES OVER N10M ON ENTREPRENEURS

A widow in Ikot Ibanga, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Mrs Christiana Okon Philip will soon become a proud owner of a modern two-bedroom bungalow, courtesy of the member representing Essien Udim State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Prince Ukpong Akpabio.

The lawmaker announced this on Sunday at the resumption of his ward-to-ward monthly briefing and empowerment of constituents, which saw 101 small and medium scale business owners receiving N100,000 each, amounting to over N10m in the last nine months in office.

At the event which took place in Ikot Utin, Odoro Ikot Two, Prince Akpabio who is the Chairman, House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges, said the house which will be ready in two months, will be furnished to taste.

He explained that the gesture was to fulfil his campaign promise to put smiles on the faces of his people and alleviate the suffering of the widow who had lived in a dilapidated house for years after her husband’s demise.

Prince Akpabio told the gathering that he was moved to build the house when he was informed that the widow’s house was in a bad condition, expressing his commitment to building more for the downtrodden.

Mrs Philip, a mother of 3 children, who could not control her emotion said the announcement of a two bedroom apartment for her was a surprise.

She said she was also shocked to be among the 21 beneficiaries of Prince Ukpong Akpabio’s Business Support Grant in Odoro Ikot Ward Two to receive N100,000 cash and thanked him for bringing solution to the pathetic condition of her family.

The political leader of Odoro Ikot Ward Two, Obong Francis Obuji who described Prince Ukpong Akpabio as a friend of the downtrodden, urged other lawmakers to emulate him so as improve the living standards of his people.
