…as Arise Food truck arrives Eastern Obolo, set for Nsit Ibom tomorrow

The ongoing food distribution which is a continuation of the second phase of the Arise Food programme of the State government entered its ninth day today, when the 40 ton food truck made a rousing entry to the Obolo Hall, at the Council headquarters, Okoroete to offload food items including, rice, beans and garri to the less-priviledged, in furtherance of the humanitarian approach to governance espoused by the Governor since he came on board.
Eastern Obolo with 10 wards, has 32 gazetted villages, with well over 70 yet-to be gazetted villages, as disclosed by a senior citizen of the local government area, a former House of Assembly Member, Rt. Hon. Dr. Charles Mbong who is currently serving as the Honorary Special Adviser to the Governor on Health.
Speaking with newsmen, the beneficiaries beaming with smiles, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his benevolence, and pledged unwavering support to his government. These group of excited vulnerable beneficiaries are persons whose names were duly captured in the updated social register.
Also reacting, some stakeholders in the area including, the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Samuel Samuel Nteuijah, a former House of Assembly Member and current Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Charles Mbong, former lawmaker, former Commissioner in the State Executive Council, and Chairman of PDP Stakeholders Forum in Eastern -Obolo, Sir. Adasi Ubolum, immediate past Transition Committee Chairman in the area, Elder. Abraham Odion, and the Council Secretary who were on hand to assist the Bulk Purchase Agency in coordinating the distribution exercise, described the gesture as unprecedented in history of the State and Eastern Obolo, and poured encomoums on the Governor for running a people-centric governance, thus prioritizing the wellbeing of the citizenry.
They assured the Governor of the unflinching loyalty and continuous support of Eastern Obolo to the ARISE Agenda of his administration.
Earlier, the General Manager of the Akwa Ibom Bulk Purchase Agency, Hon. Unyime Etim, who led staff of the agency on the distribution exercise, had assured beneficiaries that the government had provided more than enough staple food that would go round to everyone, and enjoined them to conduct themselves orderly.
On Tuesday, October 22nd the food truck will move to Afaha Offiong, the Nsit-Ibom Local Government headquarters for similar exercise.
