A seasoned and experienced officer CC Okonkwo Francis has assumed duty as the new Controller of Corrections in Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service following the promotion of CC Julius Ezugwu to the rank of Assistant Controller General of Corrections, and his subsequent retirement.
With his background and proven track record of leadership, CC Okonkwo is well-equipped to take on the responsibilities of overseeing the Correctional facilities in the state having served as the Officer in charge of various Custodial Centers including Ogwashukwu, Badagri, and Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centers amongst others.
In his final address, the outgoing ACG Julius Ezugwu expressed his deepest gratitude to God for His grace upon his life, the Controller General of Corrections Haliru Nababa FICMC, MFR, mni for the opportunity to serve, and to the officers and men of the Command for their immense support and collaboration throughout his tenure in the state. He urged the officers and men to extend the same support to the new Controller of Corrections to have a seamless tenure in the Command.
In his maiden address, CC Okonkwo thanked the Controller General of Corrections for posting him to Akwa Ibom State. He also appreciated the Command for giving him a warm reception. He called for maximum support and cooperation from the Officers and men of the Command promising to build on the achievements of his predecessor while also introducing new initiatives to address the challenges facing the Service in Akwa Ibom state.
