*Bertola applauds Gov Umo Eno on impactful governance

The October 5th local government council election in Akwa Ibom State continues to gather steam as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP flagged off campaign in Ikono Local Government Area on Saturday with the presentation of flags to the PDP Chairmanship Candidate of the Area, Hon. Engr. Oto-Obong Essien and the twelve councilorship candidates.
The event witnessed a massive turnout of party supporters, traditional rulers, community leaders, various youth and women who pledged their support to the party, its chairmanship candidate, Engr. Oto-Obong Okon Essien, vice chairmanship candidate, Ukai John Bassey, and the PDP councillorship candidates.
Addressing the rally at the council secretariat field, the State Chairman of PDP, Hon. Aniekan Akpan assured the people of Gov Umo Eno ‘s continuos dedication and commitment to the development of the area in terms of impactful projects delivery as the governor has promised to look into the 21.5 kilometers Ikot Ayan Ediene/Nkwot/ Nung Ukim road network with 45meters spand bridge.
Hon. Aniekan Akpan, flanked by exco delegation, gave an account of Gov Umo Eno’s impactful projects across all the local government areas in the state, including, massive road projects, housing delivery, schools infrastructure, investment in agriculture, health insurance scheme, pension to retirees, among others .
In his words, ” I have the mandate of His Excellency to asure you that the Governor will complete all his project in Ikono, today Ikono has a female chairmanship candidate, one of the finest in line with Gov Umo Eno’s gender balance governance.
“It is my pleasure to welcome all candidates of PDP today at this event and present flags to them, I wish them success in their future endeavors as the receive this flag of success today,” he said.
Earlier, while welcoming the state chairman of the party, Hon. Aniekan Akpan to Ikono Local Government Area, the chapter chairman of the party, Mr. Edem Obot Nyah thanked the people of Ikono and the leader of the party, Gov Umo Eno for giving women the chance in Leadership.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Member Representing Ikono State Constituency, Hon Asuquo Nana, the Political Leader of Ikono Local Government Area, Sir S. U. Akpan, the Champion of Ikono Politics, Sir. Victor Etefia, the Political Stakeholder of the area, Senator Aloysius Etok, the Women representative, Evang. Mary Inyang, the Chairman House of Assembly Service Commission, Barr Godswill Umoh, Youth Representative of the Party all spoke glowingly on their preparation to deliver all PDP candidates on the October 5th local government elections.
On his part, the Chairman Finance Committee of the campaign central working committee, Evang. Albert Inyang thanked Governor Umo Eno on his love for Ikono people and impactful governance in the state .
According to him, “we thanked our Governor for all he has done for us, Ikono is the Cradle of Ibibio Nation, we will reciprocate the Governor’s love by voting all PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections”.
Receiving the party’s flag, the chairmanship candidate of Ikono local government area, Engr. Oto-Obong Essien thanked Governor Umo Eno and the entire people of Ikono for giving her the chance to fly the party flag of the party and promised to give the people an effective leadership when voted into office as the Chairman of the council come October 5th.
High point of the event was the presentation of flags to the Chairmanship Candidate of PDP and the twelve councilorship candidates of PDP.
