- Ekpuk Eshiet-Led Transition Committee Has Performed Well – Enoidem
Gideon Uwa has promised to prioritize the empowerment of youths and women in a bid to compliment the efforts of Governor Umo Eno aimed at cushioning the effect of economic downturn that has affected Nigerians.
Mr. Uwa, who is aspiring to be the Chairman of Etim Ekpo Local Government Area on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the October 5th council polls, gave the promise at the resumed local government campaign ward tour in Etim Ekpo Wards 8, 6 and 7 respectively.
Reeling out his manifesto during the Ward tour, Uwa who assured that he’ll attract dividends of democracy to residents of the area said “PDP is the only party that is compassionate. When I take up the responsibility as the Chairman of Etim Ekpo come 5th October, I’ll ensure that we enjoy the dividends of democracy. We can all attest to what Governor Umo Eno is doing in trying to curshion the effect of the economic hardship, I will work to compliment his efforts and ensure that life becomes more meaningful to our people”.
Reiterating his plans for rural development, educational advancement and agricultural investments encapsulated in his consolidation agenda, Uwa said his administration will raise the standards of primary education, provide grants to youths and agricultural inputs to boost food security.
“I will consolidate on the gains of Hon. Ekpuk Eshiet and make sure that the youths, women are empowered with different grants. Employment opportunities will be created and the LGA will compete with the comity of best local government areas in Nigeria. We will open up our rural roads, give interest-free loans to our women to engage in various agricultural activities, we will give bursary and scholarship to our youths”, he added.
At Government Primary School, Obong Ntak, Uwa observed a minute of silence for the Late Chief Matthew Udo Ekpo of Ikot Ese village whom he described as a friend to the Uwa’s family placing on record, the tenacity of the late Chief who made him love politics till date, while assuring that he’ll create a commercial hub in Eka Offiong by constructing a state-of-the-art motor park.
Presenting the candidates to the faithfuls, the Chapter Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Owoidighe Udoma flanked by the Director General of the Gideon Uwa/Choice Lazarus Campaign Council, Hon. Aniekan Dan, emphasized that there is no candidate from any other political party better than Gideon Uwa, describing him as “the best option who will not disappoint the people”.
Addressing the rally, the Etim Ekpo Chairman Transition Committee, Hon. (Elder) Ekpuk Eshiet narrated how he met Gideon Uwa in 1997 through his kind gesture which made Professor Moses Akpanudo to grant him a scholarship into Obong Christian High School. He buttressed that Gideon Uwa is trusted and he will discharge his duties above the expectations of Etim Ekpo people.
The Member Representing Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency/Chairman of Campaign Council, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Mfon Idung maintained that the PDP government hasn’t failed Etim Ekpo people, urging the people to troop out on the 5th October and vote for the candidacy of Gideon Uwa/Choice Lazarus who will represent both genders against political parties who don’t value women alike.
In his remarks, the Political Leader of Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, Emmanuel Enoidem SAN who lauded the achievements of the Ekpuk Eshiet-led transition committee described Gideon Uwa as loyalty personified having worked with him without blemish for seventeen years.
According to the learned silk, “After the 2023 general elections, we needed to do a rethink and that resulted in Ekpuk Eshiet becoming the transition chairman of Etim Ekpo. Today we can attest that Ekpuk Eshiet has performed beyond reasonable doubt and I am indeed proud of his achievements.”
“Presently, we need another person in the mould of Ekpuk and that person is Gideon Uwa. I have worked with Gideon Uwa for 17years and he has shown over the years that he is dedicated, loyal and disciplined. Through him, we will rejig the development of Etim Ekpo and eradicate all acts of criminality”, he added.
Present at the campaigns were: Former Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr. Nse Ekanem, HSA to the Governor on Manpower Development Hon. (Elder) Nkopuruk Ekaiko, Political Leader of Ward 5, Engr Uduak Obot, Traditional Leaders, Youths, Women amongst others.
