5000 FREE FOOD BENEFICIARIES IN ETIM-EKPO POUR ENCOMIUMS ON GOV ENO

The free food distribution exercise under the Arise Food Security Program of Governor Umo Eno, today made a stop over at Utu-Etim Ekpo, the Etim -Ekpo Local Government Council Headquarters.

Food items including, rice beans and garri numbering 5000 were distributed to vulnerable members of the local government area whose names are captured in the updated social register.

Speaking with newsmen, Chairman of Akwa Ibom Bulk Purchase Agency, Rt. Hon. Dan Akpan said the agency was in Etim-Ekpo in furtherance of the ARISE food security program of the State government, and commended the people of the local government area for their orderly conduct.

He disclosed that a total of 5000 food items including rice, beans and garri were delivered by the agency in the local government area.

A member of the State Executive Council from Etim-Ekpo, Prof. Imoh Moffat who is the Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, conveyed warm wishes from the people of the area to the Governor, and stressed the need for all to embrace the back to farm initiative of the government in order to sustain the food security program of the government.

Transition Committee Chairman of Etim-Ekpo, Hon. Elder. Ekpuk Eshiet thanked the Governor for his kind gesture, and pledged the continuous support of his people to his administration. He lauded the management and staff of the Bulk Purchase Agency for effectively interpreting the Governor’s vision.

Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries drawn from the 11 wards, 76 villages and 111 units in Etim-Ekpo, Anietie James Okon, Victor Amos Peter, Udoaka Edidiong Michael, and Goodnews were full of appreciation to Governor Umo Eno for his humanitarian disposition to governance, describing his administration as one with a human face.

The food truck is expected to visit Okobo Local Government Area tomorrow, Wednesday 18th September, 2024 in continuation of the food distribution exercise.
