UNIUYO LAW STUDENTS HONOUR ESSIEN UDIM LAWMAKER WITH LIFETIME ACHIEVERS AWARD

It was a night of glitz and glamour at this year’s dinner of Justice Nsima Akpabio Chambers of the prestigious Faculty of Law, University of Uyo.

Tagged “Astra 2024” the event held last night at the magnificent Emerald Events Centre, Uyo, saw the conferment of a Lifetime Achievers Award on the member representing Essien Udim State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II.

The award which was presented by the retired Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Justice Idongesit Ntem-Isua who presented the dinner lecture on “The Challenges and Prospects of Local Government Autonomy in Nigeria: Legal and Constitutional Perspectives”.

At the ceremony presided over by the Dean of Law, Professor Mojisola Eseyin, the students’ chamber described Prince Ukpong Akpabio as a dependable leader who has set a pace for upcoming lawyers to follow.

Advocate General of the Chamber, Stephen Nwankwo explained that the award was in recognition of the lawmaker’s contributions to the growth of the chambers which is named after his father, Justice Nsima Akpabio.

Receiving the award, Prince Akpabio who is the grand patron of the chamber thanked the students for the honour done him, saying he was proud of their academic performance urging them to maintain the tempo at the Law School and legal practice upon their call to the Nigerian Bar.
