Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital will on Monday 19th of August, 2024 at 10:am play host to a gathering of photographers and active players in the creative industry, as they would be converging on the Vimpy Event Center, Udo Udoma Avenue to explore opportunities, exchange ideas, and learn the art of networking and collaboration that would be mutually beneficial to participants.
The event coincides with the world photography day, an internationally recognized day for photographers, “to share their world with the world through a single photo” which is celebrated annually on August 19 every year.
Giving insight on the upcoming event, Ms. Idara Adiakpan who is the Special Assistant and Official photographer to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, told this Reporter in a chat that the event which is expected to have the State Chief Executive, Pastor Umo Eno as Chief host, is aimed at providing a platform and opportunity that would shoot photographers and creatives in Akwa Ibom to the limelight.
In her words; “I would like to provide platforms and opportunities for photographers and creatives in A’Ibom State to come to the limelight by providing visibility, thereby enabling them to compete favourably on the global scene”.
The Visual Conference (TVC) for creatives and photographers is the first of its kind in Akwa-Ibom, Nigeria to mark the World Photography Day, 2024, it is a flagship initiative founded by an astute Nigerian Photographer, Idara Adiakpan to immensely contribute to the landscape of photography by equipping upcoming creatives and establishing a meeting point for thriving photographers.
This reporter had asked the Governor’s Chief Photographer what inspired her to give a thought towards hosting this upcoming event, and this was her response; 👇
👉🏾“Im thrilled at the possibilities that exist within the creative sector in Akwa Ibom, hence TVC 23 is organised to empower and inspire the minds of thriving and upcoming creatives (Photographers, Art lovers) through shared experiences, networking opportunities, mentorship and expert-led panel discussions.
On what the participants should to look forward to on the D-Day, Idara noted hinted; “The Participants of the Visual Conference can look forward to learn; the Art of making and deepening connections, how to creatively position your craft for sustainability, resilience and the Power of Collaboration. We also have an amazing team of resource persons that will be sharing Invaluable insights”.
The one day event which is strictly for registered participants will feature, photography exhibition, fireside chat, insight sessions, and networking, among others.
Amongst resource persons billed to deliver lectures on that day include, Emmanuel Oyeleke, – the Creative Director of Emmanuel Oyeleke Photography,(Virtual Speaker), Bayo Omoboriowo – Former official photographer to the president, Hannah Bere – Founder and CEO, Baritex I.S.L, Nigeria and UK, Ani Johnson* – CEO, Anijohnson photography, Ademola Olaniran – Official Photographer to the Lagos State Governor, Muegbeyogho Nosakhare Courage,-CEO, Ncourage studios and academy and the host, Idara Adiakpan, who doubles as Special Assistant and Chief Photographer to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno.
