Ahead of the October 5th Local Government Election, Engr. Oto-Obong Essien has emerged the Chairmanship candidate for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for Ikono Local Government Area in a delegate election that was conducted on Saturday 3rd August, 2024 at Ikono Local Government Council hall.
Declaring Oto-Obong Essien winner of the election which was voted by a total of thirty six ad-hoc delegates from twelve Wards, the returning officer Mr. Uwemedimo Udo
said Engr. Essien was returned unopposed by the delegates.
In her acceptance speech, the PDP standard bearer in the October 5, 2024 polls, Engr. Oto-Obong Essien thank Gov Umo Eno whom she described as the leader of the party on his position on ground of Justice, Fair play and equity concering zoning in Ikono Local Government Area and his gender friendly deposition in governance.
Essien uses the opportunity to applaud PDP stakeholders in Ikono including Evangelist Albert Inyang on the opportunity given to her.
She said the mandate given to her by the people is another opportunity to work for the people of Ikon in line with the ARISE Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno.
The Seasoned Engineer of repute cum politician commended the party for the peaceful and transparent conduct of the exercise.
