The 4th Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Akwa Ibom State has received royal blessings from The traditional rulers of Ukana West Clan, led by Okuku Slyvanus Obot Udoekanem as they embark on their tenure.
The blessing was bestowed on the Council at the royal palace of the Clan Head of Ukana West during a familiarization visit by the Governing Council members to the royal fathers.
Speaking during the visit, the Governing Council Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf expressed optimism about turning around the fortunes of the Polytechnic within a year, a statement that was warmly received by the traditional rulers.
In his words,”It is unfortunate that an institution of 10 years is still at this stage. I assure you that in one year, progress will be recorded.” The Council Chairman promised.
Speaking on behalf of the village heads of the host communities, Chief Michael George Akpabio, the village head of Ukana Ikot Ntuen, commended the Chairman’s determination to improve the institution, stating that with such a statement, it is obvious the Council knows why they were appointed.
In response, Okuku Slyvanus emphasized the importance of employment and student admission, urging the council to prioritize these areas. He assured the council of the community’s support and cooperation.
In his words, ” I am glad with the promises you have made today, I request that more staff be employed and more students given admission, this will help boost the Polytechnic. According to Akuku Udoekanem ,”We will on our part, maintain peace in the community, accommodate you all, and create a conducive working environment ” he stressed.
The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of gifts by the Governing Council Chairman to the Clan Head and prayers for the Council members.
In a vote of thanks, the acting Registrar, Mr. Jeremiah Jeremiah Akpabio, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated the council’s commitment to serving the Polytechnic and the community.
This visit marks the beginning of a strong partnership between the 4th Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, and the Ukana West Clan, with both parties committed to the development of the institution and the community.
