The Ikot Ekpene Ekpene Gender Based Violence Response Unit, led by the Wife of Ikot Ekpene Transition Committee Chairman, Mrs. Utibe John Etim,on Monday embarked on a sensitization visit to Schools and Markets in the Local Government Area.
The advocacy which is in partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Gender Based Violence Management Committee headed by the Governor’s Wife, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, visited Commerical Secondary School, Urua Obo and Otor Market to sensitize, students, teachers and market Women
In her remarks, the Chairman‘s Wife intimated the students, teachers and market Women on the need to join hands with government in the fight against gender based violence, and should report such cases to appropriate authority for necessary action.
Highpoint of the event witnessed the presentation of customized exercise books to students and aprons to market women
Mrs. Eno Jerome who led the State Gender Based Violence Management Committee, took time to sensitize and enlighten the Students, teachers and women who were present during the advocacy visit on gender based violence, emphasizing the need for all to be alert and report perpetrators to the government and law enforcement agencies.
The Ikot Ekpene Transition Committee Chairman‘s Wife was accompanied by the Wife of the State House Member representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency, Deaconess Idongesit Jerry Otu, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District PDP Women Leader, Obonganwan Abigail Akpan, the Supervisors for Education, Health and Women Affairs with other dignitaries.
