🎈Thousands of beneficiaries drawn from the 10 wards in Ika Local Government Area, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, took delivery of staple food items such as rice, beans and garri, courtesy of the ARISE Food Security Program of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.
🎈Beneficiaries are of the vulnerable class in the society who are well captured in the updated social register of the government.
The distribution exercise which held at the Unity Hall, Urua Inyang, Ika, began in the morning and was rounded off in the evening smoothly.
🎈Addressing the beneficiaries, the Executive Chairman, Akwa Ibom Bulk Purchase Agency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Dan Akpan, and the General Manager, Hon. Unyime Etim who led in the coordination of the distribution process, said the Governor was concerned about their wellbeing, hence the decision to provide them with food palliative.
🎈They further explained that the government has put necessary modalities in place to ensure food availability and affordability through various agricultural initiatives, and solicited their continuous support to the government of Pastor Umo Eno.
🎈Reacting, the Chairman of Ika Local Government Area, Barr. Utibe Nwoko who led Council officials to receive the team from the Bulk Purchase Agency, described Governor Umo Eno as a compassionate leader who has changed the narrative in governance in the State.
He appreciated the 🎈Governor’s kind gesture, saying the government and people of Ika Local Government will continue to queue behind the Governor’s ARISE Agenda.
